    Importance vs. Ambition

Opinions are very strong and discussion can break it. Arguments can defeat it, but approval can build it. Opinion is a person’s view on something. Their thoughts, criticism and compliments are what make their opinion. Opinion of one’s self can be modesty, or humbleness, or something different what teens today call “bragging”.
Opinion is very strong on certain subjects. As of now my eyes are open to a certain subject that happens to be at school. English, Language, Grammar, whatever your school calls it, it is the study of the English language and it is a class that many take at school from a young age to 12th grade and sometimes farther. Importance, to some, is a very big part of English. To others, importance takes no part in English whatsoever. For instance, I find English very important and an interesting class. Mrs. Harrison, my AP Math teacher says otherwise. She defines English as “stupid” (she doesn’t really hide things, she’s really...outgoing) and she sees no point in it. She thinks that if goose is geese then moose should be meese. Yes this was part of the lesson today, don’t ask. Geometry, grammar, same difference. You’ll love this, my AP English teacher is her best friend. Funny, I know but back to our subject. Importance in English is an opinion.
Ambition is because of opinion. There is a difference. I know a girl whose ambition is to become a famous author. This is the girl who is considered very talented even though she is somewhat big headed. She sees ambition more than importance. Her ambition feeds off of joy and entertainment more than importance. She likes writing and she thinks she good at it so she brags and ignores the importance. So, she does not really listen in class but rather shows off to the teacher, who has actually told us that said student is a little too full of herself. For example, this is excerpt from her book “Castle” not published but recently written:
    I nod.
“This is Ben Van Tassel” Jasper pointed to the man.
She switches between past tense and present tense off and on throughout the book without warning, they’re not even flashbacks. This would not be acceptable in legal documents or proper business filing. But she believes she is a good reader and won’t take advice. Her talent is shown here:
I stare blankly at him, not believing him.
“But that’s...that’s not possible.” I stutter.

She uses descriptive writing correctly and it very proud of it. I’m not saying it’s wrong to be proud, but taking advantage of ambition and ignoring importance isn’t the best trait. Another friend of mine at my school is the opposite. She takes pride in her writing but always has intentions of improvement and takes whatever advice she can with her self criticism as well as others. English is important in the real world but the entertainment of writing and reading is good too as long you understand the importance. What brought me to think of this? If you still want to know scroll up and read this post again. Importance and ambition are in every subject and they go along with opinion and if you’re smart you realize that.

    Will post more soon!

HEY!HEY! I'm that friend who actually sees the importance in working hard to improve at what I really care about. This girl believes that she is a good writer just because she likes it, she doesn't really try to improve when people give her advice.
