    11.19—Technology’s Change

If you walk into a store, you see little Pac-Man controllers that hook up to your television. Not too long ago, no one had those. They were only at arcades, airports, etc. and the graphics were poor. Frogger was a name many were familiar with because it was the only video game that existed to them. Now, kids don’t know of Frogger. Why? Donkey Kong, Zelda, Halo, Barbie Secret Agent. All on multiple gaming systems. I remember the Dreamstation . I had a gameboy when I was 5, something not expected in the near future close to the times of Frogger and Pac-Man. A couple years ago, I remember someone was talking about technology growing. Eye-toy had come out, which was the closest human-virtual interaction we expected to get anytime soon. I had used eye-toy like programs on my computer since I was 7 using a webcam. But it was still the poor graphics and not a lot of freedom. Last year, the PSP and the Nintendo DS came out, a huge hit. Years before everyone was excited about the gamecube. Yes, I knew about all of these. You’re reading the blog of a girl who’s been playing RPG since kindergarten.
The X-Box was huge when it came out, as was the the PS2. Everyone had forgotten the N64 I had had as a younger child. Technology is growing and growing. Here’s proof.
2 days ago, the PS3 that everyone has been waiting for was released. Cool and all, but there’s something else. As of today, technology to the public is changed forever. The WII, a Nintendo gaming system was released to the public. What is it?
Does it have a controller? Yes. Does it hook up to your television? Yes. What is it? What people didn’t expect for years to come is the powerful technology of the WII. You hold the controller in your hands and your character is coordinated to do what you do. In sword fight on Twilight Princess, if you swing, Link swings. There have been things like this but not exactly. There were some baseball games where you swung the bat and it hit the ball on the screen. This is so much better. It’s amazing. And there are so many games with so many possibilities!
The WII is a change of our society. Turns out, we’re more advanced than we thought we were.
    Are you getting it?
